The Canadian Forces Maritime Command (MARCOM) headquarters is located in Halifax along with the Canadian Forces Health Services Group Atlantic (CFHSG(A)). MARCOM is responsible for all Royal Canadian Navy operations in the Atlantic Ocean.
Halifax is a major economic centre in Atlantic Canada with a large concentration of government services and private sector companies.
