Even though THC-JD is a new hemp cannabinoid discovered in 2020, research suggests that it has great potential. Here’s what we know about it so far…
THC-JD is an all-new cannabinoid that’s found in very small quantities in hemp plants. Unlike other cannabinoids like Delta 8, HHC, and THC-P, this new cannabinoid is extracted from natural cannabis but requires isomerization or additional synthesis for the final product.
What is THCjd?
For THCjd and other newly developed cannabinoid compounds, finding accurate information is challenging because little has been documented. Often, the only data available for these cannabinoids come from companies that want to sell products containing them.
THCjd is an incredibly powerful cannabinoid that already exists. It’s made by separating different cannabinoids and then isolating them. THCjd is also commonly known as a phytocannabinoid. In fact, some individuals believe that it’s even more potent than regular THC!
According to some theories, Tetrahydrocannabioctyl’s (THCjd) 8-carbon side chain makes it 19 times more potent than THC. The reasoning is that cannabinoids with longer sidechains have a greater number of THC molecules locking with receptors.
For some time, the THC with a 7-carbon side-chain was known to be the cannabinoid with both the longest carbon side chain and most potency. As of now, though, it seems that THCjd has taken its place as the most powerful cannabinoid available.
THCjd is extracted from hemp or cannabis. This means that, to produce the compound, no more chemical alteration than the usual THC processing method is necessary.
Even though information about THCjd is scant, what little data exists suggests that more research is happening behind the scenes. Soon enough, we should know more about this cannabinoid and its effects.
Meanwhile, most experts agree that THCjd is a potent cannabinoid with few risks. Its effects are similar to indica-type strains of marijuana, producing a “couch lock” high. Currently, there are no laws governing the use and possession of THCjd in many places.
How Strong Is THC-JD?
The scientists have found that THC-JD has 8 carbon chains. If you didn’t know, regular THC or Delta 9 THC only has five carbon chains. This means the new cannabinoid can bind with CB1 receptors in the body more strongly than THC, producing stronger effects than even Delta 9 – by approximately 19 times. Moreover, it is 25 times more potent popularDelta 8 THC. But some might say, what about THC-P? Wasn’t it 33 times more potent than delta9THC?
The current potent cannabinoid is THC-JD, but there is no solid evidence to support this yet. Until laboratory studies are done, these claims remain unsubstantiated.
Benefits & Effects Of THC-JD
Those who were brave enough to try this new cannabinoid say its effects are similar to those of Delta 9 THC, but with an additional “+” or boost. In other words, if you use Delta 9 disposables or cartridges frequently and are familiar with their effects (happy, hungry, sleepy, etc.), then you will likely feel hungrier, happier sleepier when using THC-JD disposables or cartridges. To be more accurate though, it’s like experiencing the enhanced effect of Delta 9. However, it is important to remember that consuming higher doses of any psychoactive cannabinoid can lead to more unpleasant side effects. Some people have reported that THC-JD’s effects are more like hybride‘s – sometimes causing the “couch-lock” effect common in Indica strains, and other times exhibiting Sativa‘s energizing, mood-boosting qualities.
Therefore, as with everything else, start low and go slow. Another aspect to be aware of is that everyone has a unique endocannabinoid system. What may be the standard dose for one person with no issues could cause another person problems. An overdose of any psychoactive substances can result in feeling dizzy, anxious, paranoid, nauseous or having loss of coordination.
Is THC-JD Legal?
With the 2018 Farm Bill legalizing the distribution and sale of industrial hemp-based products, other hemp compounds that were in a legal grey area are now under closer scrutiny. THC-JD is one of these psychoactive cannabinoids that can definitely get you high. Since the Farm Bill was enacted, selling CBD products in stores has become legal. However, many people are uninformed that industrial hemp contains less than 0.3% of THC’s Delta 9 cannabinoid; it is instead high in CBDs. There are other cannabinoids too present in smaller portions, however if extracted from marijuana plants- it would not meet legal standards and the individual could get into trouble. Hemp-derived extractions follow the law and can be used without concern by customers .
THC-JD & Drug Test
Since there is only a small study on this new cannabinoid, we cannot say for certain if it will show up on a drug test. However, the other variants of Delta 9 THC (THC-P, THC-H, THC-O, etc.) can all be detected by a standard drug test. So it’s likely that THC-JD would have the same result. For those of you who don’t know, the standard drug test looks for metabolites in order to determine recent drug use. In summary, if you have an upcoming drug test, it is best to abstain from consuming any cannabinoids. The drug test cannot determine whether the THC entered your system through marijuana or industrial hemp.
