PAX 2 Vaporizer (PAX)

Per PAX’s PAX 2 guide, the PAX 2 is a portable dry herb vaporizer with an anodized aluminum body and a brushed finish. PAX has discontinued it, and in the PAX line-up the PAX MINI took its place.

What PAX packed in the box

The same guide lists the device, a magnetic oven lid, flat and raised mouthpieces, a maintenance kit with pipe cleaners and a wire brush, and a USB charger with a 2 ft charging cable. PAX sold the PAX 2 as a Basic Kit only, and both mouthpieces are food-grade silicone.

Oven, presets and lip sensing

The oven is at the bottom of the device, under a magnetic lid. PAX’s guide says it holds approximately 0.5 grams, while a PAX support article gives about 0.35 to 0.5 grams and applies the same figure to the PAX 3 and PAX PLUS. A Half Pack Oven Lid, sold separately, roughly halves that.

PAX gives four presets: 360°F (180°C), 380°F (193°C), 400°F (204°C) and 420°F (215°C), shown by one green, two yellow, three orange or four red LED petals. From room temperature it takes about 45 seconds to reach 400°F. One button under the mouthpiece turns the device on and cycles the presets.

PAX’s lip-sensing technology lowers the temperature when you are not drawing and restores the set temperature when the device touches your lips. Standby follows after about 30 seconds, and the device shuts off after three minutes unused.

Up to six to eight sessions per charge

PAX says the battery gives up to 6 to 8 sessions per charge. Charging is on a magnetic cradle with the USB cable: PAX’s guide puts a full charge at 2 hours or more, while a PAX support article covering this model says about 2.5 hours. Shaking the device shows the battery level, each white petal standing for 25%.

Dry herb only, with no app

PAX says that, unlike the PAX 3, the PAX 2 is not made for concentrates. It has no haptic feedback and no PAX app connection; both arrived with the PAX 3. PAX adds that oven lids, screens, chargers and mouthpieces are interchangeable with those of the PAX 3 and PAX PLUS.
