Jupiter OG

Jupiter OG descends from OG Kush: Leafly names it as the parent, while AllBud calls Jupiter OG a phenotype of OG Kush. Leafly calls the strain an indica, and in AllBud’s breakdown it is 70% indica with 30% sativa making up the rest. Our roundup of six classic strains gives more background on the type.

A 1990s phenotype in the celestial collection

AllBud says Jupiter OG was made in the 1990s as an OG Kush phenotype and belongs to what it calls the “celestial collection” of OGs. Leafly adds that the strain gives one of the biggest yields among the planetary strains.

Dense buds that smell of fuel

Leafly describes dense buds with lots of reddish hairs, a pungent, fuel-like smell and a very strong taste; its flavour tags are pungent, lime and earthy. Leafly reviewers mention large, dense, light green buds loaded with trichomes that smelled of skunk and diesel, and dense, sticky buds with a slightly peppery, earthy smell.

AllBud describes long, fluffy, pepper-shaped nuggets in minty green with purple undertones, thin red-orange pistils and frosty, purple-tinged white crystals. It reports an earthy, woody smell with a skunky edge that grows once the buds are ground and burned, and a flavour that is sweet but skunky, spicy and herbal, finishing with a woody pine exhale.

Limonene first, then myrcene and caryophyllene

Leafly’s lab-sourced data puts limonene on top, ahead of myrcene and caryophyllene. Our guide to limonene covers the citrus terpene in detail.

THC and CBD figures on Leafly and AllBud

Leafly’s THC figure is 19%, with 1% CBG, and it calls the strain fast-acting and very potent. AllBud puts average THC at 23% to 25% and CBD at 4% to 5%, with CBN at 1% in its header. On CBD, Health Canada says the compound does not intoxicate and can dampen some of THC’s effects while still acting on the brain.

A heavy, long-lasting body high in the reports

Leafly describes a very heavy, long-lasting body high, and its reviewers most often tag relaxed and tingly. AllBud describes a subtle, happy lift followed by a relaxing body high, and its users tag body high, happy, relaxing and uplifting.
