Leafly lists Island Sweet Skunk, also known as Sweet Island Skunk or ISS, as a sativa made by crossing Sweet Pink Grapefruit with Skunk #1. AllBud calls it a sativa-dominant hybrid, about 80% sativa and 20% indica, and a Canadian original grown for decades on Vancouver Island in British Columbia. SeedFinder lists versions from Federation Seed Company and Next Generation Seed Company, and Federation's own description says the mother plant was grown on the island for many years as a stabilized sativa-skunk cross.

The exact recipe depends on the source. AllBud describes a mix of Skunk #1, a California strain called Sweet Skunk and an unknown sativa, while SeedFinder's family tree, marked as probable, runs through Sweet Skunk and White Widow. AllBud also says ISS won a Canadian award at the High Times Cannabis Cup, without giving a year.

Leafly describes green buds with bright yellow and orange hairs, and Federation describes a tall, stretchy plant with long, sugary buds that fill out late in flowering. Leafly's reviewers pick skunk, tropical and grapefruit as the top flavours, and its description calls the taste sweet and skunky with undertones of grapefruit. AllBud agrees on sweet and skunky with hints of the tropics, adding citrus and fruity notes, and Federation's notes highlight a strong, pungent odour.

Leafly's reviewers most often report feeling energetic, focused and uplifted, and Leafly rates ISS as mostly energizing. AllBud describes a cerebral high with a strong mood lift, happiness and euphoria, energy and creativity, plus a mellow body feel. Federation's breeder notes describe something heavier, a sweat-inducing indica stone, so cuts may differ.

The negatives Leafly users mention most are dry mouth, dry eyes and feeling anxious, and AllBud says dry mouth is very common. Health Canada suggests starting with 1 or 2 puffs and waiting up to 30 minutes for the full effect, and its lower-risk guidelines say not to drive for at least 6 hours after using cannabis.

Leafly shows 18% THC and 1% CBG and rates ISS higher in THC than average. AllBud's listing gives a range of 16% to 25%, although its own description puts top levels at 19%. Batches vary, so go by the THC figure on the label.
