Cactus Jack

Cactus Jack is a cross of Jack Herer and Cactus, according to both Leafly and AllBud, and it comes here as flower by the gram, the eighth, the quarter, the half ounce or the ounce.

A rare cross on the Jack Herer line

AllBud calls Cactus Jack a super rare sativa-dominant hybrid, about 70% sativa and 30% indica, made by crossing the equally rare Cactus with Jack Herer. It says the strain keeps many of Jack Herer’s flavours and effects, with a slightly more lifted feel from the Cactus side. One AllBud reviewer likened it to a peppier Jack Herer, the way espresso compares with coffee, and noted a decent body high. Leafly files it as a sativa.

Mint-green popcorn nugs and a pine-cleaner nose

AllBud describes fluffy, mint-green, popcorn-shaped nugs with deep amber pistils and a dusting of pale amber crystals. It compares the aroma to a pine household cleaner, with a spicy, earthy note once the flower is burned, and its aroma tags are lemon, pine, spicy and sweet.

Pepper, herbs and a woody exhale

In AllBud’s words the flavour is sweet and spicy herbal with a woody exhale, and its flavour tags are citrus, herbal, spicy and woody. On Leafly, the flavour tags are diesel, berry and mango, and reviewers there call the taste peppery; one compared it to tequila and jalapeño.

A slow climb to an energetic high

Leafly’s effect slider puts Cactus Jack mostly on the energizing side. Its reviewers most often report feeling energetic, happy and euphoric, also tag it focused, relaxed, creative, uplifted, hungry and talkative, and describe a high that is mellow yet focused and energetic. AllBud’s account has the high creeping up slowly, reaching the head first with happiness and then bringing creativity and motivation.

AllBud lists THC at 18% for the strain. That is close to twice the 10% THC that Health Canada gives as the upper limit for a first try, which it starts at 1 or 2 puffs.
