Mimosa

Mimosa is flower named for the Clementine and Purple Punch cross that Leafly calls a mainstay of the Tangie family. Leafly files the strain under hybrid, whereas AllBud places it in the sativa dominant hybrid group at 70% sativa and 30% indica. Our Mimosa guide notes that it leans toward sativa in most sources.

Purple Punch, Clementine and a refined version

Leafly’s genetics section lists Purple Punch and Clementine as the parents. AllBud says the strain was created by crossing Purple Punch with Clementine.

Leafly adds that the breeder Symbiotic Genetics has put out a refined Mimosa called Mimosa v6.

Orange peel, grapefruit and a little funk

Leafly describes a strong citrus-and-fruit aroma and flavour that recalls the drink the strain is named after. Its flavour tags are citrus, orange and grapefruit. One Leafly reviewer describes a bright citrus-funk smell like orange peel and gas.

On AllBud the flavour is sweet-and-sour tropical citrus that ends in a light berry exhale and comes close to a fresh mimosa, and the aroma echoes it with woody florals and earthy herbs. Its reviewers mention a very fruity smell and taste with orange and tangerine notes, and one says it tastes like sizzling oranges and grapes.

Steven De Guzman’s tip in our Mimosa guide is to expect orange peel and grapefruit with some funk when a jar first opens. He suggests a clean pipe or bong if you want to keep the citrus, since a Leafly reviewer described an earthy, herbal flavour when smoking it in a joint.

Myrcene leads on Leafly, with 19% THC there and 27% on AllBud

Myrcene tops the lab-sourced terpene data on Leafly, with pinene and caryophyllene after it. The same page shows 19% THC, 1% CBG and a potency reading above average. AllBud’s header says 27% and its text gives an average of 19% to 27%.

A daytime pitch for the effects

Leafly’s gauges describe the effects as mostly energizing, and its top tags are focused, energetic, uplifted and happy. It describes small doses as happy and level-headed, leaving you uplifted and motivated for everyday tasks, with larger doses leaning more relaxed.

AllBud pitches the strain as a bright, happy daytime pick and a morning pick-me-up. It describes an energetic, clear-headed lift at the start, euphoric motivation and sharp focus, plus a light tingle felt mainly in the body. Its users tag focus, motivation, relaxing and uplifting.
