Proxy Vaporizer (Puffco)

Puffco describes the Proxy as a portable, modular concentrate vaporizer, or electric dab rig: a rechargeable base with a 3D chamber that sits inside a swappable glass piece. The brand now offers a newer Bluetooth, app-enabled Proxy and keeps a support page for the earlier model, which it calls the OG Proxy.

Four colour-coded heat presets

On both versions the heat comes from the 3D chamber, with four presets from Blue (lowest) to White (highest), and a single click steps to the next one. A double-click starts heat-up, with a pulsing light while it heats and three flashes and vibrations when ready. A second double-click adds a boost that raises the heat and lengthens the hit. Puffco says not to start heat-up more than 4 times in a row. A triple-click shows the battery percentage, and holding the button for 3 seconds locks or unlocks the device.

OG Proxy and new Proxy compared

• OG Proxy: presets at about 505°F (Blue, high flavour with lower vapour), 520°F (Green, balanced), 545°F (Red, more vapour with flavour kept) and 565°F (White, maximum vapour). A full charge takes roughly 90 minutes with the supplied USB-C charger and cable.
• New Proxy: presets at about 490°F (Blue), 510°F (Green), 530°F (Red) and 545°F (White). The Puffco Connect app adds Bluetooth control of temperature, session time, vapour level and LED mood lighting, and saves custom heat profiles. A full charge takes around 2 hours, and it can be used while charging if it has some charge.

Both charge over USB-C, and Puffco quotes roughly 15 uses per charge, depending on heat settings.

Loading, cleaning and concentrates

Puffco says to load the chamber cold and avoid overfilling it, which can let material leak into the base. For the best vapour, spread material along the walls of the 3D chamber bowl rather than the bottom. For cleaning it recommends only 90%+ isopropyl alcohol: the chamber can soak for 20 to 30 minutes for a deep clean, and the glass pieces can be soaked, rinsed with water and dried.

Core, Pipe and add-on pieces

The new Proxy comes as a Core Kit, a Pipe Kit or Build Your Own. The Core Kit box holds the base, a Core cup, a Core mouthpiece and 3 terp pearls. Core leaves out the glass, with a silicone mouthpiece and an anodized aluminum cup on a silicone foot. The Pipe Kit box holds the base, a hand-blown borosilicate glass pipe, a loading tool and a USB-C cable.

Puffco says every Proxy base works with every Proxy glass piece, but Core fits only the new app-enabled base. Add-ons include the Proxy Bub water piece, the Proxy Wizard dry pipe, the Proxy Flower Bowl and travel cases.
