Gelato 33, often written Gelato #33, is one of several numbered phenotypes of Gelato. Leafly says Gelato was made by crossing Sunset Sherbet and Thin Mint GSC, that a number of phenotypes have been released since, and that #33 is a balanced hybrid with compact buds that stays true to its Cookie genetics. Leafly's main Gelato entry lists #3, #33, #41 and #45 among the family's phenotypes, with Larry Bird and Gelato #42 as other names used for Gelato.
Who bred it is disputed. Herb credits Mario Guzman, known as Mr. Sherbinski, and Jigga, the grower behind Thin Mint Cookies, with co-creating both Gelato and Sunset Sherbet. A 2020 Oklahoma Gazette review notes that Cookies Fam lays claim to the original genetics.
