What is Kosher Kush, and what has it won?
Leafly lists Kosher Kush, also called Kosher OG, as an indica that originated in Los Angeles as a clone-only strain and is now offered as seeds by DNA Genetics, calling it one of the most pungent OG Kush-related strains. DNA Genetics says it was originally called Jewish Gold, that some experts believe OG Kush was one of its parents, and that its seeds were backcrossed for consistency. CannaConnection notes that the exact parentage is not consistently published.
Wikipedia says DNA Genetics was founded in Amsterdam in 2004 by Don Morris and Aaron Yarkoni, and that it partnered with Tweed, part of Canopy Growth, in 2015 to bring its cannabis to Canada.
The awards are well recorded. Wikipedia's list of Cannabis Cup results shows Kosher Kush, entered under the Reserva Privada name, winning the Indica Cup at the High Times Cannabis Cup in Amsterdam in 2010, 2011 and 2012, and DNA Genetics' Kosher Kush among the top 3 seed-company indicas in 2014. DNA's own company timeline claims the 2011 and 2012 wins and says High Times featured Kosher Kush as a Strain of the Year in 2011.
Look, smell and taste
DNA describes dense, pungent buds with a carpet of orange hairs and a glistening, sugary coat of trichomes, plus an earthy aroma tinged with sweet fruit and fresh lemon. Leafly describes rich earth and fruit, and its reviewers most often pick earthy, pungent and woody. On the inhale, DNA lists pine, lemon and earthy notes with a smooth, creamy exhale, and AllBud lists herbal, lemon, pine, sweet and woody flavours.

Leafly rates Kosher Kush's effects as mostly calming, and its reviewers most often tag it sleepy, relaxed and hungry. DNA describes an uplifting, cheerful and sometimes talkative start that turns into a heavy, full-body stone, and says even experienced consumers moderate how much they use. The most common negatives on Leafly are dry mouth, dry eyes and dizziness, and AllBud warns that large amounts can cause blurred vision.
Those are user and breeder descriptions, not clinical findings. Health Canada notes that everyone's response to cannabis differs, and its health effects page lists confusion, sleepiness and slower reactions among short-term effects. How strong is Kosher Kush?
DNA cites THC readings of around 22%. Leafly lists about 21%, AllBud 22% to 25% and CannaConnection 27%, so the figure depends on the grower and the batch. Check the label, and keep in mind Health Canada's point that higher amounts of THC can cause greater impairment.
Strains similar to Kosher Kush
LA Confidential is another DNA Genetics indica with a Cup record: Wikipedia's list has it third in the 2004 Indica Cup and second in 2005, and DNA's timeline calls it one of its staple strains. The same list names Master Kush (Hindu Kush x Skunk #1) as a winner at the 1992 and 1993 Cups, and God Bud as the 2004 Indica Cup winner.
