Organic Tangerine Dream Bubble Hash

Organic Tangerine Dream Bubble Hash is a hash sold as bubble hash, the solventless ice-water style, and its name points to Tangerine Dream, a strain from Barney’s Farm. Sensi Seeds describes the style as dried or fresh-frozen cannabis soaked in iced water until the trichomes separate, leaving a sandy, light brown powder. Pressed or rolled, that powder turns denser and fudge-like.

Ice water in, resin out

Wikipedia says ice-water extraction can pull large amounts of pure resin from the plant in a very clean process, with no solvents, and that the hash can be pressed into rosin between heated plates, as dry sift or flower can.

Leafly has the flower stirred in ice water inside layered bags: the cold freezes the resin heads, agitation snaps them off, and they drop through the sieves. The bags are stacked in a bucket with the finest screen at the base.

In the home method on Sensi Seeds’ how-to page, the cannabis is frozen overnight, stirred in ice and water for roughly 10 to 15 minutes, then left to settle for another 10 to 15. The finest bag, at the bottom, yields the best material and the top bag the poorest.

Sensi Seeds reports that most modern makers wash live, fresh-frozen flower: freezing leaves the trichomes brittle and easier to separate, and keeping the plant live preserves more terpenes, so the hash is more aromatic. Colour, stars and full melt

Leafly says bubble hash runs from light blonde to dark brown and may carry one to six stars, six being the most refined. Its best grades use extremely fine mesh, so only small trichome heads pass. Full melt is Leafly’s top grade: it mostly bubbles away under heat, smoked or dabbed, and leaves almost no residue. Sensi Seeds applies the term to any high-quality hash free of plant impurities, since leaf, seed or stalk matter burns while resin alone melts.

The Tangerine Dream strain the name refers to

Barney’s Farm, the breeder, classes the strain as sativa-dominant (60% sativa, 40% indica) and gives the cross as G13, Afghan and Neville’s A5 Haze. It lists tangy tangerine aromas and flavours.
