Rex Quartz Tri Coils (Yocan)

Rex Quartz Tri Coils is a Yocan accessory named for the Yocan Rex, which Yocan lists as a portable vaporizer kit that attaches to a glass rig or water pipe. Yocan’s own review post calls the Rex a concentrate e-nail, and its product page pitches it as small and discreet, in 5 colours.

The Quartz Triple Coil in Yocan’s Rex

Yocan calls the Rex’s heating element a Quartz Triple Coil, shortened to QTC, and pitches the coil for large clouds. Yocan’s loading steps are short: unscrew the coil, put the concentrate inside it, then screw it back on. The brand adds a caution to avoid poking the heating elements while loading.

Three voltage levels, one power button

Yocan lists three preset voltage levels for the Rex, each with its own light colour:

• 3.2 V with a white light, the low setting
• 3.7 V with a blue light, the medium setting
• 4.2 V with a green light, the high setting

Per Yocan, three quick presses of the power button step to the next voltage. Five quick presses put the Rex on standby, and the white light flashes five times. A long press heats while you inhale, and one quick press switches the light off.

Glass joints, airflow and the parts Yocan names

Yocan says the Rex fits 14 mm and 18 mm ground glass joints and comes with a silicone joint adapter that suits 14 mm or 18 mm male and female joints. The parts Yocan names on the device are a silicone cover, a male/female attachment, an adjustable airflow valve, the QTC coil, a 1400 mAh battery, a Type-C charging port and the power button.

Because the Rex attaches to a glass rig or water pipe, our dab rig vs bong guide explains how those two differ, and our guide to bong materials covers shapes, materials, pros and cons.
