AutoNight Queen Strain: Dutch Passion's Indica Autoflower

AutoNight Queen is an autoflowering, indica-dominant strain from the seed company Dutch Passion, which now writes the name as Auto Night Queen (it is also searched as Autonight Queen). Dutch Passion crossed a selected clone of its photoperiod Night Queen, a highly resinous Afghani variety, with Auto Mazar, a dark autoflowering Afghan Mazar-i-Sharif hybrid from its gene bank.

SeedFinder traces the family tree further: Night Queen traces to Afghanistan, while Auto Mazar combines Dutch Passion's Mazar (an Afghani x Skunk line) with ruderalis and indica parents. SeedFinder says the strain is sold only as feminized seeds and records its first place in the Automatics category of the 2016 Highlife Cup, an award Dutch Passion also lists.

Dutch Passion describes compact, rock-hard buds under a thick, sticky layer of trichomes, with bright orange pistils and, on some plants, purple and blue tones in the leaves and buds. The aroma is a pungent Afghani-Kush: earthy, with notes of pine, incense and fruit, and a rich hash smell when smoked. Some phenotypes run sweeter and fruitier over a light earthy base, and the breeder's description calls the taste rich, smooth and sweet.

Consumer reviews are scarce, so most descriptions come from the breeder. Dutch Passion calls it one of the most potent autoflowers it has seen, with a heavy, long-lasting stone; it says the body high hits quickly and outweighs the mental effect. Start with a small amount. Health Canada's lower-risk guidelines advise lower-THC products and no driving for at least 6 hours after using cannabis.

Dutch Passion rates its THC as very high and says it averages 15 to 20%, very close to the photoperiod Night Queen, which the same page puts at over 20%. These are breeder figures; the THC in finished flower depends on the grow and the batch, so check the lab numbers on the label.

Dutch Passion says plants usually reach 50 to 70 cm, finish about 10 to 11 weeks from seed indoors under 20 hours of light a day (10 to 13 weeks outdoors), and yield around 450 to 500 g per square metre indoors. It advises against topping and suggests humidity below 50% in flower, since the dense buds can be prone to mould. SeedFinder lists a tall, slower phenotype and a short, faster one.

In Canada, Health Canada allows adults to grow up to 4 plants per household under federal law, subject to provincial rules.
