What Moby Dick 2 is
Dinafem sells Moby Dick #2 as a new version of its Moby Dick, made by crossing a JYD Haze mother with a highly productive Northern Lights indica. The breeder says the Northern Lights side gives it a sweeter taste, a slightly shorter flowering time and bigger yields, and lists it at 55% sativa and 45% indica. An older Dinafem description quoted on SeedFinder gave 65% sativa, and SeedFinder files it as mostly sativa.
The original Moby Dick, which Dinafem released in 2005 and calls the best-known strain in its catalogue, is a cross of Haze and White Widow, according to its SeedFinder listing. Not everyone accepts the sequel: one SeedFinder commenter argues that without the White Widow side it has little in common with the original.
Look, smell and taste
Dinafem describes a tall, strong plant with a very vigorous main cola that produces large, dense buds overflowing with resin. It calls the aroma and taste intense, mixing hints of lemon, sandalwood, spice and incense, with more sweetness than the original thanks to Northern Lights. For comparison, Dinafem says the original Moby Dick's sativa phenotype smells of wood, pine and incense.
Effects people report
Consumer reviews are scarce, so most descriptions come from the breeder. Dinafem calls the effect potent, mainly cerebral and long lasting, a SeedFinder grower describes a happy, psychedelic head high, and a customer review on Dinafem's page mentions a sweet, candy-like taste and a very potent buzz. Start low with any strong sativa-leaning strain. Health Canada's lower-risk guidelines advise lower-THC products and no driving for at least 6 hours after using cannabis.
How strong is Moby Dick 2?
Dinafem lists THC at 16 to 20% with low CBD, the same range it gives the original Moby Dick, and notes that cannabinoid content varies with the growing medium, technique, conditions and genetics. Check the lab numbers on any batch you buy.
Growing notes
Dinafem lists indoor flowering at 60 to 70 days with yields around 475 g per square metre and recommends a sea of green setup indoors. Outdoors it says plants finish in mid to late October and do best in dry, sunny, temperate climates or a greenhouse, and that unlike the original, Moby Dick #2 needs no extra fertilizing. In Canada, Health Canada allows up to 4 plants per household under federal law, subject to provincial rules; Quebec prohibits growing cannabis for personal use, and Manitoba has allowed it since May 1, 2025 (up to 4 plants per household, indoors, 19+).
