What is Headband?
Headband is a hybrid that Leafly, AllBud and Weedmaps all list as a cross of OG Kush and Sour Diesel, and HB is its common nickname. Weedmaps adds that the history is messier than that. DNA Genetics later released its own OG Kush x Sour Diesel Headband, which helped fix that pairing as the strain's identity, while older Headband stories overlap with 1990s East Coast Diesel cuts such as Diesel #1, Daywrecker Diesel and Underdawg.
The name comes from the effect. Leafly says many people feel a slight pressure around the crown of the head, as if wearing a headband, and Weedmaps describes the same sensation around the forehead and temples. Weedmaps also lists 707 Headband, Sour Headband and Humboldt Headband as separate entries, so check which one a product means.
Smell and taste
Leafly and AllBud both describe a smooth, creamy smoke with lemon and diesel notes. Leafly reviewers most often pick diesel, earthy and pungent as flavours, while flavour reports on Weedmaps lean diesel, earthy and woody, and its description adds sour citrus, pine and peppery spice over the fuel. In Leafly's lab data the main terpenes are caryophyllene, limonene and myrcene.
Effects people report
Across more than 2,600 Leafly ratings, the most reported feelings are euphoric, tingly and uplifted, and Leafly rates Headband as mostly energizing. AllBud describes euphoria and creativity with a spacey edge that can get in the way of daytime tasks, and says the strongest effects sit in the body. Weedmaps describes a euphoric, spacey head high with steady relaxation underneath; the guide to head highs and body highs explains the difference.
Leafly notes the effects can come on slowly, so pace yourself rather than taking more too soon. The negatives Leafly users report most are headache, dry mouth and dry eyes. Do not drive after using it: Health Canada's lower-risk guidelines advise waiting at least 6 hours.
How strong is Headband?
Leafly lists about 20% THC and 1% CBG and rates Headband above average for THC, AllBud gives 17 to 24% THC with CBD under 0.5%, and Weedmaps lists 19 to 26%. Batches vary, so check the label on the product you buy.
Similar strains
Headband's best-known parent is OG Kush, with Sour Diesel supplying the fuel side. Weedmaps names Headband among the strains similar to Colorado Chem, another diesel-heavy hybrid, and Leafly lists Pink Starburst and Paris OG as strains bred from Headband.
