An Afghan-border indica from Barney’s Farm

Barney’s Farm says the strain came from many years of selectively inbreeding superior genetics from the Afghanistan-Pakistan border region, and calls it easy to grow even in unfavourable conditions. Leafly calls it a pure indica descended from an Afghani landrace, and AllBud, which calls it a 100% pure indica, describes the same Afghani descent. Leafly adds that, like other Hindu Kush-region varieties, it carries heavy crystal resin coverage on the buds.

Spade-shaped buds, sage and pepper

AllBud pictures the bud as dense, medium-sized and spade-shaped, a dark forest green with amber trichomes and pale gold undertones, heavy with fine white crystals and a sweet, syrupy resin. Its aroma is bittersweet, with a sweet earthy spice, and the taste is pungent and sweet-earthy with pepper and sage.

Barney’s Farm calls the flavour classic Kush, with earthy, musky notes and strong spice, and its spec table lists sage, woody and sweet for taste and earthy and pepper for aroma. Leafly lists spicy and herbal, pine and earthy flavours, and its terpene data puts myrcene first, then pinene and caryophyllene.

What the potency numbers and reviewers say

Leafly’s header lists THC at 22% and CBG at 1% and ranks the potency above average. Barney’s Farm gives about 20% THC, and AllBud puts it at 15 to 18% on average. Ratings run 4.2 from 67 on Leafly and 4.8 from 10 votes on AllBud.

Leafly reviewers most often mention feeling relaxed, hungry and uplifted, and its description says the effects may feel more cerebral than the average indica. AllBud users describe a mellow high that arrives almost at once as a euphoric, creative head high, leaving them uplifted and happy before a deep relaxation sets in. Barney’s Farm lists happy, creative and euphoria.

The plant, per the breeder

Barney’s Farm describes a short, sturdy plant that grows wide, with thick stems, dark leaves and dense buds, suited to SOG and ScrOG gardens. It lists about 80 cm tall and 550 g/m2 indoors, about 110 cm outdoors, 50 to 55 days of flowering indoors and an outdoor harvest in the second to third week of September.
