Alaskan Thunder Fuck, or ATF for short, is a strain Leafly ties to Alaska’s Matanuska Valley, and here it comes as flower in five amounts: 1 g, 1/8 oz, 1/4 oz, 1/2 oz and 1 oz.

Big, frosted buds with a loud smell

Leafly says ATF buds usually come large and frosted, with very strong smells of pine, lemon, menthol and skunk. AllBud describes crystal-covered buds that look very white, with spots of orange hairs, and one Leafly reviewer compared the coating to ice-like crystals.

AllBud describes the smell as a mix of cat pee and very strong skunk, with a noticeable diesel note.

Menthol, sage and a long, spicy aftertaste

Leafly’s flavour tags are menthol, sage and pine, and one Leafly reviewer describes an earthy, skunky, sage taste that builds in the mouth. AllBud describes a strong banana and orange taste that leaves a spicy aftertaste lasting for hours, and lists citrus, grape, pine, spicy and sweet among its flavours.

Myrcene is the dominant terpene on Leafly’s list, followed by caryophyllene and limonene.

Storing a pungent strain

Robert Misic’s tip in our ATF strain guide starts from that smell, noting that one reviewer had to move theirs out of the house because of it. He suggests a sealed glass jar, a 62 percent humidity pack and a cool, dark spot.

Reported effects: energetic, uplifted and talkative

Leafly users most often report feeling energetic, uplifted and euphoric, and Leafly’s effect scale leans toward energizing. AllBud describes an immediate high that leaves people a bit more talkative and creative at times.

Leafly’s strain page shows THC around 16% with 0% CBD and marks the strain as higher in THC than average; AllBud gives a range of 16% to 23%. Health Canada’s lower-risk advice for smoking or vaping is to begin with 1 or 2 puffs, favour products at 10% THC or less, and allow up to 30 minutes for the effects to peak.
