Backwoods - Philippines Prestige

California’s Unflavored Tobacco List records Philippines Prestige, a Backwoods tobacco cigar, as one of the brand’s Select styles, in an entry added on December 31, 2025. ITG Brands, Imperial’s US arm and the maker of Backwoods, puts the brand’s nationwide American rollout in 1981.

Inside the Philippines Prestige entry

The entry’s full name is Backwoods Select Phillipines Prestige Cigars, spelled that way on the list. It is for a 3-count pouch, packed in a 10-pack carton.

Inclusion reflects the maker’s certification that the style carries no characterizing flavour from any of its constituents. California’s Department of Justice publishes the list, and the manufacturers and importers behind each style make those certifications under penalty of perjury.

Select styles that share the list

The same list names more Backwoods Select styles: Guatemala Satin, Honduras 1883, Kentucky Small Batch, Pennsylvania Primo and Special Connecticut. In Imperial Brands‘ account of the Backwoods portfolio, Select styles appear next to limited-time offers, and the company calls them “premium offers” defined by the origin of their wrapper.

Where to start when unrolling a Philippines Prestige

Many buyers of these cigars, says our Fronto vs Backwoods guide, unroll them, get rid of the tobacco filler and refill the leaf with cannabis as a ready-made blunt. The guide’s advice for that first step is to find the outer edge and open the leaf a little at a time, since the leaf can be fragile and is hard to roll once it rips.
