Alaskan Thunder Fuck, usually shortened to ATF and also written Alaskan Thunderfuck, is an old strain tied to Alaska's Matanuska Valley. Leafly also lists it as Alaskan Thunder, Matanuska Thunder Fuck and Matanuska Tundra.
Its genetics are a legend rather than a record. As Leafly tells it, a Northern California sativa was crossed with a Russian ruderalis, then Afghani genetics were added in the late 1970s to make the plants hardier. Weedmaps says sources conflict, but most agree on that outline. No breeder is named.
That Afghani cross explains the mixed labels. Leafly's description calls ATF a sativa, but Leafly and Weedmaps file it under hybrids, and AllBud lists it as 70% sativa and 30% indica. Leafly describes large, heavily frosted buds with a very strong smell of pine, lemon, menthol and skunk, and its reviewers most often name menthol, sage and pine as the flavours. AllBud says the buds look almost like crystals, flecked with orange hairs.
