Leafly describes Banana OG as an indica-dominant cross of OG Kush and a strain called Banana, and files it as a hybrid. AllBud names the same parents and puts the split at 70% indica and 30% sativa, while Weedmaps labels it an indica and lists OG Banana and OGer's Kush as other names. The labels differ, so it is worth knowing what indica, sativa and hybrid really mean.
The history is less tidy than the name suggests. Weedmaps notes that several breeders use it: the original cut is credited to Orgnkid as Ghost OG crossed with a banana-scented phenotype from a Sagarmatha line, Flavour Chasers lists OG Kush crossed with Skunk Haze, and Humboldt Seed Company, Apothecary Genetics and Geistgrow each list their own Banana OG versions or crosses. Two jars labelled Banana OG can therefore come from different genetics.
Look, smell and taste
Leafly says Banana OG smells and tastes of overripe bananas, and its reviewers most often pick tree fruit, tropical and sweet as the flavours. AllBud describes the aroma as banana peel and Christmas pine, notes that some people taste cinnamon, and describes the plant as light green with brown hairs that darken as harvest approaches.
