Apollo 11 by Bodhi Seeds

The Apollo 11 strain, namesake of this Apollo 11 by Bodhi Seeds flower, is credited by Leafly and AllBud to the breeders Brothers Grimm. Leafly calls it a potent hybrid with strong cerebral effects, and AllBud puts it at 85% indica to 15% sativa, indica-dominant.

Genius, Cinderella 99 and the Apollo family

Leafly says the mother is Genius, a Jack Herer phenotype, crossed with Cinderella 99, and its genetics section names Jack Herer and Cinderella 99 as the parents; AllBud gives the cross as Cinderella 99 and Genius. Leafly calls Apollo 11 a half-sister to Apollo 13, which it describes as a heady sativa, and lists Trifecta and Pagoda as its children. Our Apollo 11 guide adds that Brothers Grimm themselves call it sativa dominant.

Fast to flower, short and branchy

Leafly says Apollo 11 usually finishes flowering before 8 weeks, a trait it says runs through the Apollo family, and that plants stay on the shorter side with lots of branches and bud sites, though individual plants vary. The grow notes mark it suitable for SCROG (screen of green) and give it a high calyx/leaf ratio.

Citrus up front, funk when freshly opened

Leafly says the resin-rich flowers smell sharply of citrus and taste of lemon, a little more subtly; its flavour tags are citrus, pine and tar. Several Leafly reviewers say freshly opened buds smell cheesy or funky, and one adds pine and earthy notes. On AllBud the aroma is sweet citrus with a hint of spicy wood, and the flavour is fresh and lemony, sweeter than the aroma.

In Steven De Guzman’s tip, Brothers Grimm’s own description is of overripe tropical fruit and grapefruit, with the citrus coming back on the exhale.

Long nugs under milky resin

AllBud describes long, dense, bright green nugs with minty green tones, thin pale brown hairs and a fine coat of resin and milky white trichomes.
