Chocolate-style Backwoods, five to a pack: tobacco cigars from a brand that belongs to Imperial Brands.
A La Romana factory making over a billion cigars a year
A report on Cigar Aficionado described the Tabacalera de Garcia factory, which stands just outside the Casa de Campo resort complex in La Romana, Dominican Republic. It said the plant turns out more than one billion mass-market cigars every year, and that Backwoods account for most of that output.
Filler and wrapper, with the binder left out
Most cigars put a binder between filler and wrapper; according to CSP Daily News, Backwoods leave that layer out and stop at two leaves. Our Fronto vs Backwoods guide says the outer leaf handles best when it can still bend a little, since a leaf that is bone dry is prone to cracking and tearing.
TrueWraps, a separate 2024 product
Imperial Brands’ timeline logs a 2024 launch called TrueWraps. Imperial describes it as a 100% tobacco-leaf option for people who roll their own, a separate product from these Chocolate cigars.
