Dab Habit Shatter - Jack Herer

This Dab Habit shatter is named for Jack Herer. Like any shatter, it is a translucent, glass-like extract that snaps when chilled, and it is most often dabbed, though crumbling it over flower works too.

An activist’s name and a Dutch breeder

Leafly ties the name to Jack Herer, an activist for cannabis who wrote The Emperor Wears No Clothes, and dates the strain to the Netherlands in the mid-1990s. Its breeder, Sensi Seeds, combined a Haze hybrid with a Northern Lights #5 x Shiva Skunk cross, by Leafly’s account, with a cerebral lift and heavy resin production as the goal.

On its seed page, Sensi Seeds presents the feminized version as the showpiece of its range and lists a Gold Cannabis Cup win. Sensi Seeds also says its founder, Ben Dronkers, counts Jack Herer as his favourite strain of all time. On type, Leafly files Jack Herer as a sativa; AllBud’s figure is 80% sativa, a sativa-dominant hybrid; and Sensi Seeds rates its feminized line an even 50/50 split.

Terpinolene, caryophyllene and pinene

Leafly’s lab data puts terpinolene at the top of Jack Herer’s terpene list, then caryophyllene, then pinene. Leafly calls the strain spicy and pine-scented and tags its flavour pine, woody and earthy. Sensi Seeds notes that the plants give off only a faint smell when grown indoors, but dried buds turn complex: a sharp, savoury hashish edge, Afghan notes and a fruity skunk character that varies by phenotype. For THC, Jack Herer’s Leafly page reads about 18%, with roughly 1% CBG; AllBud’s average spans 15% to 24%. On Leafly, reviewers mention feeling focused, energetic, creative and uplifted, while Sensi Seeds describes a high-energy cerebral high with a strong body buzz underneath.

Health Canada’s lower-risk page puts shatter in one high-THC bracket with wax, kief and hash, and steers new and occasional consumers away from all four. For a first inhaled try, its numbers are 1 or 2 puffs, drawn from a product holding 10% THC at most, with effects showing in seconds to minutes and peaking as late as 30 minutes in. Under its lower-risk guidelines, a wait of 6 hours or longer separates any cannabis use from driving.
