Dark Leaf Backwoods Carton is sold out. These are available today, from our Accessories range.
Dark Leaf is the style on this carton of tobacco cigars from Backwoods. Two separate records mention it: an entry on California’s Unflavored Tobacco List and a registered US trademark for the BACKWOODS DARK LEAF name.
The maker’s certification behind the Dark Leaf entry
California’s Unflavored Tobacco List records Backwoods Dark Leaf Cigars as a 5-count pouch packed in an 8-pack carton, and the entry was added on December 31, 2025. Being on the list means the maker certified that the style contains no constituents that impart a characterizing flavour.
From the 2020 filing to the 2021 registration
The US trademark record for BACKWOODS DARK LEAF gives May 21, 2020 as the filing date and December 21, 2021 as the registration date (registration number 6598668). The mark covers cigarillos and cigars, and first use in commerce is dated August 1, 2020.
The broadleaf outer leaf, and what blunt rollers do with it
Imperial Brands says the wrapper on all Backwoods cigars is 100% broadleaf tobacco and credits it with giving each cigar a unique appearance. Our Fronto vs Backwoods guide describes the blunt method as opening the cigar out, discarding the tobacco and putting cannabis into the leaf that is left. It adds that the leaf rolls best while slightly pliable, because a bone-dry one cracks and tears. Our blunt guide walks through the rolling.
