Dope Extracts Budder - GMO & Runtz

Dope Extracts Budder - GMO & Runtz is a budder concentrate named for two strains. The first, GMO Cookies, goes back to Girl Scout Cookies and Chemdawg on both Leafly and AllBud, and the second is a Gelato cross that Leafly credits to Cookies Fam.

Whipped to a cake-batter texture

Budder, also spelled badder, is an extract whipped until it turns creamy, close to cake batter, which makes it easy to scoop. Our article on buying concentrates in Canada sets out what to check when choosing an extract.

GMO Cookies: garlic, diesel and Mamiko Seeds

Leafly says GMO Cookies was originally bred by Mamiko Seeds and lists Garlic Cookies and GMO Garlic Cookies as other names, and our GMO Cookies strain page adds that it also goes by simply GMO. Leafly says the strain inherits loud flavours from Girl Scout Cookies, among them a diesel aroma and a lingering, garlic-forward taste. AllBud describes a savoury garlic flavour that ends on a pungent, spicy exhale, and a heavy aroma with spicy, rotten-coffee hints.

AllBud calls GMO Cookies a heavily indica-dominant hybrid, about 90% indica and 10% sativa. Leafly’s terpene data leads with caryophyllene, then limonene and myrcene, and its THC figure for the strain is around 28%, plus about 1% CBG, against 20% to 24% on AllBud. Leafly reviewers most often say they felt relaxed and euphoric, and Donny Burger and Mule Fuel are two of its offspring on Leafly.

A Gelato cross named Leafly’s 2020 Strain of the Year

The second strain on the label was made by Cookies Fam, according to Leafly, which gave it the title Strain of the Year for 2020 and says a crew led by Yung LB out of Long Beach made it popular. Leafly and AllBud both name Gelato as a parent, and AllBud describes an even split of 50% indica and 50% sativa. Leafly also notes that it goes by Zwirlz in the Netherlands and that at least 20 variations of it exist.

Leafly describes a very fruity profile and euphoric, uplifting effects said to be long-lasting, and talkative, giggly and relaxed lead its reviewers’ reports. AllBud’s flavour notes are tropical citrus and sour berry, with a sharp, spicy pineapple aroma that turns a little pungent when the sticky buds are broken apart and burned. Leafly’s terpene data for this strain also starts with caryophyllene, followed by limonene and myrcene, and puts THC near 21%, while AllBud gives a range of 19% to 29%.

Extracts and new users

Health Canada places extracts such as hash, kief, wax and shatter in a high-THC group that it suggests new or occasional users stay clear of, and budder is an extract as well.
