Heisenberg Diamonds Purple Punch

Crystals of THCA make up these Purple Punch diamonds, a Heisenberg concentrate named for the Larry OG x Granddaddy Purple strain that Leafly rates higher in THC than average.

What the crystals are, and what heat does

Diamonds are THCA that has come out of a cannabis extract as solid crystals while the extract separates. In that form the THCA is not yet THC; heat is what converts it. Terp sauce, a runny extract rich in terpenes, often holds small THCA crystals of this kind suspended in it. Our THC diamonds explainer follows the process from extract to crystal.

Purple Punch by the numbers

Leafly’s strain page puts Purple Punch at about 18% THC and 0% CBD. AllBud gives an average THC level of 18 to 20%, with CBD at 1%, and our Purple Punch guide quotes the same AllBud range while noting that batches vary. Both sites rate the strain 4.6: Leafly across 1,773 ratings, AllBud across 159 votes and 96 reviews.

Terpene order and a second name

In Leafly’s terpene data for Purple Punch, caryophyllene comes out on top, with limonene second and pinene third. Leafly also records Punch as another name for the strain.

Timing and caution with THCA crystals

Because they come out of an extract, diamonds fall in the high-THC group that Health Canada illustrates with shatter, wax, kief and hash, a group it tells newcomers and occasional consumers to skip. Its general pacing advice for inhaling starts at one or two puffs and points to products of 10% THC or under; inhaled effects come on in seconds or minutes, and the climb to a peak can run to 30 minutes. Under its guidelines on lower-risk use, driving should wait 6 hours or more.
