Trainwreck

Trainwreck is flower with Northern California roots: Leafly traces the strain to Mexican and Thai sativas crossed with Afghani indicas. Leafly’s category is hybrid, and AllBud labels it sativa dominant at 80% sativa and 20% indica.

An Arcata clone and two name stories

Our Trainwreck strain guide traces the strain to an elite clone kept in Arcata, California. Leafly records two stories behind the name: some say it was grown near a train wreck in Arcata, others that its sprawling growth looked like one.

On Leafly’s genetics tree, Thai and Mexican are the two parents, and Pineapple Express and Kandy Kush are children.

Sweet lemon, spicy pine and a clean glass piece

Leafly describes an aroma of sweet lemon with spicy pine, and tags pine, earthy and woody flavours. AllBud describes long green leaves with a pine and citrus aroma, a lemon aftertaste and a slight cough on the inhale, and says heavy trichome coverage gives a light green colour, sometimes with a subtle hint of grey.

Terpinolene leads the terpene panel

AllBud describes a mellowing body high next to a cognitive high with imaginative, inventive thoughts.

THC readings and grow notes

Leafly lists THC at about 17%, and AllBud lists 18% to 25%. Our guide adds that the THC usually quoted for it runs in the mid-teens, though it varies by batch.

On the growing side, Leafly says indoor gardens finish after 8 weeks of flowering, outdoor plants tend to finish early, and yields run about 450 to 550 g per square metre. Topping suits it, and it is a medium to heavy feeder.
