What Is Afghanica?
Afghanica is a cross of Afghani #1 and the so-called "Original" Skunk, better known as Skunk #1. According to Wikipedia, breeders at the Flying Dutchmen were the first to produce it, although the year it first appeared is not recorded.
Leafly files it as a hybrid with the taste, form and effects of Afghani plants and the yield, vigour and general potency of Skunk lines, and says its heavy physical traits come from the Afghani #1 mother. Look, Smell and Taste
Wikipedia describes a short, stocky plant with broad leaves, a lush canopy and dense buds that feel oily to the touch, and notes that the leaves can turn red or purple in cooler conditions. It describes the smell as bitter and sharp with a hint of sweetness, and says the plant gives off a petrol-like odour when its leaves are disturbed.
On Leafly, the flavours reviewers pick most are tea, woody and sweet, and the tea note shows up in the written reviews too: one calls the smell a sweeter take on traditional Afghani with a slight tea scent. AllBud lists pine, musk, citrus and skunky aromas, and a spicy, herbal taste with hash, tea, wood and pine underneath.
Effects People Report
Leafly sums up Afghanica as mostly calming. Among the 16 people who rated it there, the most tagged effects are creative, hungry and euphoric, and the most common negatives are dry mouth, dizziness and dry eyes. AllBud lists a similar set: creative, euphoric, happy and sleepy.
Some Leafly reviews describe an uplifting start that turns heavier and more relaxed; one reviewer puts the shift at about 30 minutes.
