Airheadz Strain: Lineage, Taste and Effects

Airheadz, also spelled Airheads, AirHeadz or Air Heads, is a hybrid that most sources trace to Runtz x Pink Runtz. AllBud calls it slightly indica-dominant, at 55% indica and 45% sativa, and says it is named for the candy. Leafly now lists the strain as Sweet Chews: its Airheadz page redirects there, and it describes the same slightly indica-dominant Runtz x Pink Runtz cross and credits it to West Coast Cure.

The name is not tied to one plant. Weedmaps says several hybrids are sold as Airheads or Airheadz: AV3 Genetics bred one from Blue Cheese and Plushberry, the breeder Clout King markets a Zerbert x Project 4516 cross, and other flower claims Runtz and Pink Runtz as parents. The lineage on the package is the best clue to which one you have.

AllBud describes dense, forest green buds with deep purple undertones and thin orange hairs, and Leafly mentions chunky green and purple buds with a heavy coat of frost. According to AllBud, the flavour is sweet, sugary berry with a lightly sour exhale, and the aroma adds gassy diesel and spicy, earthy notes to the fruit.

Leafly reviewers most often report feeling relaxed, happy and euphoric, and Leafly calls the effects strong and fast-hitting, both cerebral and relaxing. AllBud says the high starts in the head with a creative, lifted mood before spreading into full-body relaxation. Leafly's own scale places it toward the energizing side, and some reviewers say it feels more like a sativa. The negatives Leafly users mention most are dry mouth and dizziness.

With a strain this strong, start with a small amount. Health Canada's lower-risk guidelines advise choosing lower-THC products and not driving for at least 6 hours after using cannabis.

Published numbers disagree. The top of Leafly's page shows 21% THC, while its written description and AllBud both give 28 to 35%, and Leafly rates the strain higher in THC than average. Potency changes from batch to batch, so go by the lab results on the package; how much THC percentage matters explains why the number is only part of the story.
