Blue Frost Strain: Lineage, Effects and Flavour
A note from Steven De Guzman

Blue Frost reads like a cheese board: sweet berries up front, a sharp cheddar-like funk behind and a floral note when you break the buds apart. A few blueberries and a sliver of aged cheddar on the side make a fun match.

What Is Blue Frost?

Leafly describes Blue Frost as a 60/40 indica-dominant hybrid that the breeder Goldenseed made by crossing Blue Monster with Jack Frost. Weedmaps identifies Goldenseed as a breeder based in the United Kingdom, and AllBud lists the same parents and the same 60% indica, 40% sativa split.

Weedmaps also notes that Medicine Man Seeds has its own Blue Frost with different parents, said to be Platinum Cookies, Granddaddy Purple and Blueberry Diesel, so it is worth checking the lineage on the label.

Look, Smell and Taste

The name comes from the frost. AllBud describes buds so covered in tiny trichomes that they look slightly blue in the light, with a minty green colour that barely shows underneath, and Weedmaps mentions the same frozen blue look. Descriptions of the buds themselves differ: Leafly calls them dense with deep violet hues, while AllBud describes small, round and airy nugs.

Leafly sums up the flavour as sweet and fruity with a sharp cheese-like undertone, and its reviewers most often name menthol, cheese and mint. AllBud describes sweet berries and sharp cheddar, with a pungent aroma of earthy berries, skunky cheese and a floral note when the buds are broken apart. Weedmaps users most often report sweet, berry and pungent flavours.

Leafly's lab data lists myrcene as the main terpene, followed by pinene and caryophyllene.

Effects People Report

Leafly's 148 ratings most often mention feeling tingly, relaxed and uplifted, and Leafly rates the effects as mostly energizing. AllBud describes a happy lift that turns euphoric and giggly, then a heavy, hazy head high with a light body feel that can last for hours.

The downsides Leafly users list most are dry mouth, dry eyes and dizziness. Start with a small amount, and follow Health Canada's advice not to drive for at least 6 hours after using cannabis.

THC and Potency

Leafly lists Blue Frost at about 19% THC with around 1% CBG and rates it above average in potency, while AllBud lists 22% THC. Batches vary, so go by the lab-tested numbers on the label.

Similar Strains

Blue Frost's best-known relatives come through its Jack Frost parent, which Leafly describes as a cross of White Widow and Northern Lights #5; Leafly's family tree for Jack Frost also lists Jack Herer. Like Blue Frost, Jack Frost is rated mostly energizing on Leafly. The other parent, Blue Monster, is described by AllBud as rare.

Buying Blue Frost

The menu box on this page shows whether Blue Frost is on the GasDank menu right now; if it is not, it lists in-stock hybrid flower instead. Because more than one Blue Frost exists, check that the label names the lineage, and look for lab-tested THC and CBD numbers and buds that look and smell fresh. GasDank delivers same day across Toronto and the GTA, usually within 1 to 2 hours, and ships mail order across Canada to customers 19 or older (21 in Quebec), with ID checked. You can also browse all hybrid flower.
