More than one breeder has released a strain called Cherry Bomb, and this flower carries that shared name; our Cherry Bomb guide lays out the versions.

Barney’s Farm, Bomb Seeds and a 2022 namesake

Leafly credits a popular version to the breeders at Barney’s Farm: a California indica, probably with some Skunk in it, crossed with a Hawaiian sativa. Its genetics block gives the parents as Hawaiian and North American Indica, and names Cherry Haze and Dragon Berry as offspring. Our guide adds an indica-leaning Cherry Bomb from Bomb Seeds, bred from its Big Bomb, and Leafly notes a separate strain of the same name released in 2022 by B-Real of Cypress Hill under the Insane brand.

AllBud places the strain in a family of genetics that includes a Hawaiian Cherry Bomb sativa and a California Cherry Bomb indica, and notes that many versions are on the market.

Musky berry, mild on the tongue

Leafly’s description pairs a musky, berry-like aroma with a mild flavour, and its flavour tags are tree fruit, chestnut and berry. An AllBud reviewer describes a sweet berry smell, a mild cherry flavour on the inhale and a mildly sweet, woody exhale. Since the name covers several cultivars, Steven De Guzman, writing in our guide, says to judge by the jar, and to use a clean glass piece so the quieter notes stay intact.

Light green, with trichomes inside

AllBud calls the buds light green and plain to look at, though well liked by fans of fruity strains, and says trichomes cover most of the inside of the buds. One Leafly reviewer also describes the flower as light green.

Pinene first, and a quick, focused start

Leafly’s terpene ranking puts pinene first, then myrcene and limonene. Leafly calls Cherry Bomb a daytime-style strain with mild to moderate effects that come on fast, feeling active and mentally alert before settling into a focused state, and the effects its reviewers mention most are focused, energetic and happy. AllBud describes effects that start a little cerebral and turn more focused.

How strong, and how well rated

Leafly puts the strain’s THC at about 18% and its CBD at 0%, and AllBud gives 17% to 24%. Either figure is well past 10% THC, the mark Health Canada pairs with one or two puffs for a lower-risk first smoke.
