Hash Lebanese Playboy

Lebanese hash is a product of trichomes, the plant’s resin glands, gathered and pressed together, and that is the form sold as Hash Lebanese Playboy. A late-September harvest, then a rooftop

The plants stay standing in the field until they are almost dry, and Sensi Seeds says the harvest usually falls in late September. Next they go onto a rooftop, where the sun finishes the drying. Curing follows, for two to three weeks in a room that is cool and dry.

Silk screens, three shakes

With stems and outer leaves stripped away, workers shake and rub the female flowers over several fine silk screens, each of a different mesh size. The first shake produces the best fine powder, which is kief. The second and third shakes produce an inferior powder. A Bekaa grower quoted by Al-Monitor says the resin is sifted and dried once the harvest is in.

Bagged until winter, then pressed

What the Bekaa soil allows

Sensi Seeds says the arid Bekaa soil suits cannabis so well that growers need neither irrigation nor fertilizer. A hectare can yield 40 to 100 kilograms of hashish, it adds.

Before the first pull

Two Health Canada points apply. First, the agency counts hash among high-THC extracts, a group that also covers kief, wax and shatter, and suggests that beginners and infrequent users stay away from it. Second, its guidelines on lower-risk use say to wait 6 hours or more after using cannabis before driving.
