Pre-98 Bubba Kush

Pre-98 Bubba Kush is a flower that takes its name from a strain Leafly places in the grunge and Y2K era. Leafly adds that fans have stayed with it for more than ten years, and AllBud makes much the same point about indica fans.

Other names, descendants and flowering time

Pre-98 Bubba, P98, Pre-98 and Pre 98 are the other names Leafly gives, and it lists Grape Kush and Purple Gas as strains descended from it. Leafly sorts the strain as an indica, whereas AllBud lists an indica dominant hybrid at 85% indica and 15% sativa. Flowering takes around 10 weeks, says Leafly. Bubba Kush also appears in our guide to classic indica strains, a list of six.

Coffee, earth and a musky edge

Leafly describes a pungent, musky scent and a coffee-like taste, with coffee, earthy and pungent as its flavour tags. AllBud notes an earthy, pungent aroma with a hint of citrus and a coffee aftertaste on the exhale. Its aroma tags run earthy, herbal, pungent, skunky and sweet, and its flavour tags coffee, herbal, sweet and woody.

One AllBud reviewer compares the smell to mild decaf coffee with a forest note. Another describes dense, sticky buds in medium to dark green, with clear crystals and burnt-orange hairs, that smell and taste woody, earthy and nutty.

Limonene, caryophyllene and myrcene

Leafly Certified lab data puts limonene first among the terpenes, followed by caryophyllene and myrcene; our limonene guide covers the lead terpene. THC is 15% on Leafly, with 0% CBD and a potency gauge above average. AllBud’s figure is 20%.

A heavy body feeling

Leafly says the strain is known for a consistent heavy body sensation. Leafly reviewers tag relaxed and hungry above all, and the hungry tag is picked apart in our piece on the munchies. AllBud’s tags are euphoria, happy, hungry and relaxing. Leafly shows 4.4 from 568 ratings, and AllBud shows 4.6 from 18 votes and 9 reviews.
