Jack Herer

This flower carries the name of Jack Herer, an activist for cannabis and the author of The Emperor Wears No Clothes; Leafly says the strain was created in the Netherlands in the mid-1990s. AllBud ranks it among the best-known buds in the world.

Sensi Seeds and a Haze cross

Leafly says Sensi Seeds crossed a Haze hybrid with Northern Lights #5 x Shiva Skunk, aiming for a cerebral lift and heavy resin production, and AllBud gives the same cross. Sensi Seeds calls its feminized Jack Herer the showpiece of its range, lists it as a Gold Cannabis Cup winner and says founder Ben Dronkers considers it his all-time favourite strain. Leafly names Amnesia and Cinderella 99 among its children.

Lemon, pine and a hashish tone

AllBud describes a sweet and sour flavour of citrusy lemon with a woody pine exhale, and an aroma of lemony pine with earthy herbs and spicy flowers. Leafly calls it spicy and pine-scented, with pine, woody and earthy as flavour tags. Sensi Seeds says dried buds develop a sharp, savoury hashish tone with Afghan notes and fruity skunk, depending on phenotype. Steven De Guzman’s tip in our Jack Herer guide is to go slowly and follow the change from a tangy lemon or orange inhale to pine, sage and wood on the exhale, and he suggests a few orange segments alongside to echo the citrus.

Terpinolene at the top

Leafly’s lab data puts terpinolene first among the terpenes, ahead of caryophyllene and pinene; our terpinolene explainer covers that piney, floral compound.

Big buds, several phenotypes

AllBud describes oversized, pepper-shaped, neon-green nugs with golden undertones, thick orange hairs and a frosty, golden-amber crystal coat, and Sensi Seeds calls the buds some of the biggest around, covered in a heavy layer of resin glands. Leafly’s grow notes count four phenotypes, three that usually lean sativa and one more indica-like, with 50 to 70 days of indoor flowering; Sensi Seeds puts harvest at roughly 10 to 12 weeks, or after 8 weeks for strongly indica plants.

Reported highs and strain THC figures

Leafly reviewers report feeling energetic, creative, uplifted and focused. AllBud describes a lifted, energizing high with clear-headed euphoria, motivation, creativity and focus, where conversation comes easily, and Sensi Seeds a high-energy cerebral high over a strong body buzz. Leafly gives the strain about 18% THC on its page, and AllBud an average range of 15% to 24%. Leafly calls it sativa-dominant, AllBud puts it at 80% sativa, and Sensi Seeds rates its feminized line 50% sativa and 50% indica.
