A tobacco cigar from the Backwoods brand, The Purple Pack comes from the line whose slogan, “Wild ‘n Mild”, dates from the 1980s according to Imperial Brands‘ timeline.
The brand behind The Purple Pack
Imperial Brands says the slogan remains on the brand’s packs, and ITG Brands writes the same words as “WILD & MILD”. Most of the cigars made at the Tabacalera de Garcia factory are Backwoods, Cigar Aficionado reported, and its annual production tops one billion mass-market cigars at a site in La Romana, Dominican Republic, on the outskirts of the Casa de Campo resort complex.
The Purple Pack versus TrueWraps
TrueWraps, which Imperial’s timeline shows arriving in 2024, is a different product altogether: a roll-your-own option the company says is made of 100% tobacco leaf. The Purple Pack is a cigar, and our Fronto vs Backwoods guide explains that many people unroll a Backwoods, remove the tobacco filler and repack the emptied leaf with cannabis to roll a blunt. Fronto, or grabba, is different again, the guide adds: a whole leaf bought loose and cut by the roller, where a Backwoods leaf is ready-made but leaves less freedom over size and thickness.

Backwoods The Purple Pack — Frequently Asked Questions
Q.Is The Purple Pack a Backwoods cigar or a TrueWraps product?
A cigar. TrueWraps is its own product, launched in 2024 by Imperial Brands’ account, and the company describes it as a roll-your-own choice of 100% tobacco leaf.
Q.Is a Purple Pack leaf quicker to use than fronto?
Yes, according to our Fronto vs Backwoods guide: a Backwoods leaf is complete from the start, whereas fronto arrives as a loose whole leaf the roller must cut, which gives the roller more say over size and thickness.
Q.How old is the Wild ‘n Mild slogan on Backwoods packs?
Imperial Brands dates “Wild ‘n Mild” to the 1980s and says it is still on Backwoods packs, while ITG Brands writes it as “WILD & MILD”.
