HybridBubba is the short name this flower goes by, and both Leafly and AllBud list it as another name for Bubba Kush, alongside BK and Bubba OG Kush.
Named for its breeder
Leafly passes on the story told by the breeder whose name the strain carries. In Leafly’s telling, OG Kush pollen landed on an indica obtained in New Orleans just after 1996; that mother was reportedly Northern Lights, though the plant went simply by Bubba. The strain later travelled to Florida together with OG Kush and became a classic there, and Leafly counts Kush Mints and, later, Wedding Cake among the many strains it fed. Leafly’s genetics panel shows Kush Mints and Purple Milk as children.
Hardy plants and many phenotypes
Leafly’s grow notes say a sea of green (SOG) layout suits the strain, put typical yields as high as 430 g for every square metre, and note that plants can show many different indica phenotypes. A hobby grower reviewing it on Leafly found the plants hardy enough to cope with weather swings outdoors, and AllBud calls the strain a favourite of breeders. Leafly reads Afghani descent into the stocky plants and bulky buds but considers the genetics uncertain; AllBud’s view is that the parents were probably Afghani and OG Kush.
Olive-green hearts with orange hairs
AllBud pictures big, airy buds shaped like hearts, coloured dark olive green and threaded with long, fine, bright orange hairs, with sticky resin coating the tiny white trichomes. On Leafly the buds are bulky and distinctive, in shades from forest green to pale purple.
Mocha, hashish and a skunky finish
Coffee, earthy and pungent are Leafly’s flavour tags, and its write-up finds sweet hashish, with faint chocolate and coffee on the exhale. AllBud calls the flavour slightly sweet, hashy and floral, with coffee and touches of rich, spicy chocolate, over an aroma of earthy hash and mocha coffee, with spicy flowers in the background. The hobby grower on Leafly noticed a sweet, herbal profile with a subtle roasted-coffee note, while another reviewer smelled loud coffee and wood with a slightly skunky finish. Caryophyllene comes first in Leafly’s terpene data, then limonene, the subject of our limonene guide, and myrcene.
Reported body effects and the THC range
Leafly describes heavy relaxation from head to toe alongside a dreamy euphoria and happy moods, and among its reviewers, relaxed comes up more than any other effect. AllBud says the high opens with a gentle lift in spirits and a happy headspace before a body high joins in, and that it can last for hours. Leafly puts THC at about 17% with CBD at 0% and reads its potency as above average; AllBud shows 25% and gives an average range of 14% to 25%.
