One customer found this Lebanese Blonde earthy in taste and wrote that it “burns slow and evenly”. The hash is offered in 1 g, 3.5 g, 7 g, 14 g and 28 g weights, and its name points to Lebanon, where Sensi Seeds says Lebanese Blonde, like Lebanese Red, has a following among hash smokers worldwide.
Six steps of the traditional Lebanese process
Sensi Seeds sets the method out in this order:
- Harvest, usually in late September, with the plants left standing in the field until they are nearly dry.
- Drying on a rooftop in the sun.
- Curing for 2 or 3 weeks in a cool, dry room.
- Sieving: workers rub and shake the bare female flowers, stems and outer leaves already gone, over several fine silk screens whose mesh sizes all differ.
- Grading: quality falls with each pass, so the first shake yields the best fine powder (the kief) and the second and third yield poorer grades.
- Pressing: the bagged powder is stored until winter, then packed into cotton or linen sacks and run through industrial presses, which turn it into soft, pliable blocks.
The blessed plant of the Bekaa
People in the Bekaa have used cannabis for centuries and call it Al-Mabroukeh, which Sensi Seeds renders as “the blessed plant”. By its account, the plant once stood in for money, went into wedding dowries and was shared freely with guests.
Sensi Seeds credits the valley’s arid soil for a crop that needs neither irrigation nor fertilizer, and puts the possible yield at 40 to 100 kg of hashish per hectare.
A slow start with Lebanese Blonde
Hash counts as a high-THC extract in Health Canada’s lower-risk advice, which suggests that new or occasional users avoid such products. Its guidelines put at least 6 hours between using cannabis and getting behind the wheel. Joints, pipes, bongs and vaporizers each come up in our guide to smoking hash.
