Red Runtz

Red Runtz is flower with our sativa label, in five sizes from 1 g up to 28 g (one ounce). Exotic Genetix crossed Runtz with Red Pop, according to Leafly, which puts the strain in its hybrid category. AllBud agrees on hybrid and gives an even split: 50% indica, 50% sativa.

What Exotic Genetix aimed for

Leafly calls Red Pop the rarer parent and says Exotic Genetix breeds for maximum THC and very heavy frost. AllBud’s parents for the cross are the same. Leafly expects the fruity, creamy, berry terpenes of Runtz alongside the red strawberry terpene of Red Pop, and its genetics section lists Code Red and Gary Poppins as child strains.

Deep blue, purple and nearly black buds

AllBud describes dense, heavy, pepper-shaped nugs in deep blue with reddish undertones, thick red-orange hairs and white trichomes with a dark blue tint. Leafly reviewers describe green buds with deep blue-purple tones and a heavy trichome layer, deep green buds with hints of purple, and buds so dark they look nearly black and purple. Raspberry, strawberry and berry sweetness

AllBud describes a syrupy sweet aroma with a raspberry-berry overtone, tangy fruit and a touch of spice, and a sour-yet-sweet raspberry candy overtone in the flavour, over sugary fruit and fresh berries. Its flavour tags are berry, candy, fruity, sour, sugary and sweet.

Leafly’s flavour tags are grapefruit, berry and strawberry. Its reviewers describe a sweet, fruity berry-candy smell and taste, with one noting a sour raspberry overtone, another strawberry from Red Pop alongside the fruitiness of its partner, another a crayon-like first taste and another a hint of red wine.

25% on Leafly, 27% to 28% on AllBud

Leafly shows THC at 25% and rates its potency above average. AllBud calls the strain tangy and potent, with an average THC of 27% to 28%. Health Canada names 10% THC or less for a first smoke or vape, paired with 1 or 2 puffs and a wait of as long as 30 minutes for the peak; both figures here are far higher.
