What Lemon Skunk is
Leafly calls Lemon Skunk (also sold as Lemon Skunk OG) a sativa-dominant hybrid developed from two Skunk phenotypes hand-picked by the breeder, and credits the original to DNA Genetics. DNA's breeder notes, reproduced on SeedFinder, say the mother was a lemon Skunk kept in Las Vegas for more than 20 years and the father was picked in Holland. SeedFinder classes DNA's version as mostly sativa and records first places for it at the 2007 Highlife Cup (outdoor, seed banks) and the 2008 Spannabis Champions Cup (hydro). DNA is not the only source. Green House Seed Co. sells a Lemon Skunk it describes as old-school Skunk from the Amsterdam underground, listed with a first place at the 2006 Highlife Cup, and SeedFinder lists 12 Lemon Skunk seed lines from different breeders. Lemon Skunk is also a parent of Super Lemon Haze, which Franco Loja of Green House bred by crossing it with Super Silver Haze, according to Wikipedia.
Look, smell and taste
DNA Genetics describes a tall plant with a high calyx ratio and green buds covered in thick orange hairs. Leafly describes the smell as skunky and pungent with exceptionally zesty lemon undertones, and its reviewers pick lemon, skunk and citrus as the top flavours. Leafly's summary describes fast-hitting effects with buzzy energy and a mellow high, and its reviewers most often report feeling happy, uplifted and euphoric. SeedFinder users tag DNA's version as thought-provoking, calming and exhilarating, while Green House describes its own as well balanced and long-lasting.
The negatives Leafly users report most are dry mouth, feeling anxious and dry eyes, so go easy if energetic strains tend to make you edgy. THC varies by grower and batch, so read the label.
