Larry Bird

Leafly lists Larry Bird as another name for Gelato, an evenly balanced hybrid in its words, from a cross of Sunset Sherbet and, on the other side, Thin Mint Girl Scout Cookies. This flower carries that alias.

Numbered cuts and the family around them

Gelato’s other names on Leafly are Gelato 42 and Zelato. Its genetics box shows Sunset Sherbet as the parent, with Runtz and Biscotti as children, and the text says Gelato has been used to make Gelato #3, Gelato #33, Gelato #41 and Gelato #45.

Deep purple buds with a shiny resin skin

According to growers Leafly quotes, the flowers darken to purple and carry vivid orange hairs under a shiny white skin of resin. Sweet, fruity and creamy is how Leafly sums up the taste and smell, and its flavour tags are sweet, flowery and pepper.

Pepper, citrus and hops: the terpene panel

Leafly’s terpene panel puts caryophyllene (pepper) first, followed by limonene (citrus) and humulene (hoppy), and shows the phenotype as hybrid. Limonene is the subject of our citrus terpene explainer.

Fast onset, strong relaxation

Leafly’s text says the effects arrive quickly: a euphoric high with strong relaxation, while the mind stays stimulated. Its reviewers also tag uplifted, happy, hungry, creative, giggly and talkative.

THC is 21% on Leafly, with CBD at 0%, and the site ranks the potency above average. Health Canada’s lower-risk advice puts newcomers at 10% THC or lower, which makes that figure over twice the suggested ceiling, and it adds that an inhaled dose can still be building half an hour later.

Growing notes: 8 to 9 weeks of flowering

The plant flowers in 8 to 9 weeks according to Leafly, whose difficulty rating is hard, with a medium harvest expected from short to medium plants, best grown in soil. It describes an auto-flowering seed as ready within 8 to 9 weeks, counted from seed.
