Two strains and two weights make up the Premium Flower Bags from Walt Herb Co: Afghanica or Jedi Pink, in a 14 g or 28 g bag. The bags are listed as indica.

Afghanica and the Flying Dutchmen

Wikipedia credits the Flying Dutchmen breeders with first producing Afghanica, starting from Afghani #1 and the so-called Original Skunk, also given there as Skunk #1, and says it should not be confused with Afghan Kush. Leafly names the same breeder and describes the taste, structure and effects typical of Afghani varieties joined to the yield, vigour and overall potency of Skunks. Leafly and Wikipedia both class Afghanica as a hybrid; AllBud makes it an indica-dominant F1 hybrid, 65% indica and 35% sativa. Amnesia White and Road Kill Skunk appear on Leafly as its offspring.

Afghanica’s oily buds and tea note

Wikipedia describes dense, oily buds and small coated leaves carrying heavy, oily resin, with a smell it calls bitter, sharp and turbulent, touched with sweetness; mature plants give off a petrol-like smell when their leaves are handled. AllBud’s aroma list is pine, musk, citrus and skunk, and its flavour notes are a strong spicy, herbal blend over hash, tea, wood and pine. Leafly’s top flavours are tea, woody and sweet, and two of its reviewers mention a tea-like smell, one calling it a sweeter version of the classic Afghani aroma.

Steven De Guzman’s tip in our Afghanica strain guide follows from that: put a pot of plain black tea beside the bag and see if the same note comes through.

Afghanica’s reported effects and THC

Leafly’s effect meter calls Afghanica mostly calming and shows creative, hungry and euphoric as its top effects, while AllBud tags creative, euphoria and happy. AllBud puts THC at 20.37%, CBD at 1.2% and CBC at 0%. Those are strain figures, not a test of these bags. Health Canada‘s guidance on starting out: stop after 1 or 2 puffs, preferably of flower that stays at or under 10% THC, and give the effect up to 30 minutes to crest.

Afghanica in the garden: six feet, October harvest

Wikipedia and AllBud both put the plant’s height at up to about six feet, which Wikipedia gives as 1.83 m. Wikipedia lists 56 to 63 days of flowering with an October harvest, notes the leaves may turn red and purple in cooler conditions, and calls the strain regular, meaning it produces both male and female plants.
