SativaOnline weed orders usually go wrong in the same few places: a fee that appears at the last step, a payment that can't be pulled back, a listing with no weight or real photo, a parcel with no tracking. Six checks cover them on any site, GasDank included.

What will the order really cost?
The sticker price is only part of the bill. A cheap ounce with a steep delivery fee can cost more than a dearer one that arrives free.
- Per gram, not per bag. Divide the price by the grams: an eighth is 3.5 g, a quarter 7 g, a half 14 g, an ounce 28 g, so an ounce only saves money if it costs less than eight eighths. Menus round the ounce down; under Canada's Weights and Measures Act a true ounce is about 28.35 g. The weights explainer has the full table.
- Delivery or shipping. Find the fee and the order total where it drops to zero. If your cart is closer to that line than the fee itself, topping up costs nothing extra.
- Minimums and payment fees. Check whether a minimum applies in your area and whether paying by e-Transfer adds a charge (GasDank's is $5 per payment).
Is the payment method safe for you?
An Interac e-Transfer behaves like cash. Interac says a deposited transfer can't be reversed, and suggests the caution of a cash purchase when you don't know the recipient.
The Canadian Anti-Fraud Centre lists non-delivery, where a fake seller takes the money and never ships, among the tactics behind online shopping fraud. Its advice fits weed sellers: verify the phone number and address before buying, check third-party reviews, distrust huge discounts (its example is 80% off) and pay in person when you can.
- Cash on delivery means nothing leaves your hands until the order is in them.
- For an e-Transfer, send the exact total and keep any security answer out of the message; Interac's help page says it should never go by email or text.
- Call or text the number on the site before a first order. Someone should pick up.
Does the seller check age and ID?
A careful seller verifies age before a first order and checks ID again at the door on local deliveries. A site that never asks is skipping the one check you can see, which hints at the ones you can't.
The minimum age depends on the province. The Gouvernement du Québec prohibits possession under 21, so a seller shipping to Quebec should ask for 21 or older.
Is the product information complete?
A useful listing shows the type (indica, sativa or hybrid), THC and CBD, the weights on offer, real photos and, for edibles, milligrams of THC per piece. Without those numbers you can't follow Health Canada's starting advice: 2.5 mg or less in an edible, or 1 or 2 puffs of a product with 10% THC or less.
Read a THC figure as a guide. When researchers tested 23 flower samples from Colorado stores, about 70% came in more than 15% below the label (PLOS ONE, 2023). Grade names like AAAA are informal too (see what the grades usually mean).
Are delivery promises realistic and tracked?
Same-day delivery is usually quoted as a window of an hour or two, mail order as days counted from shipping. Be wary of an exact arrival hour for a parcel: once it leaves the seller, the courier runs the last leg. Every shipped order should come with tracking.

What should you check when the order arrives?
Open it the day it lands, while a problem is easy to show with photos.
- Weigh flower on a kitchen or pocket scale, out of the jar or bag.
- Compare it with the listing: strain, type, weight and, for edibles, milligrams per piece on the package.
- Fuzzy white or grey patches or a musty smell are reasons to stop; here is how to spot mould on weed.
- If something doesn't match, contact the seller that day.

Worked example: GasDank's terms, check by check
On GasDank's own terms, a $40 order in the Toronto core zone paid by e-Transfer comes to $60: $40, plus $15 delivery, plus the $5 fee. Cash at the door drops the fee, and from $80 delivery is free. Check by check:
- Delivery zones: the core zone (Toronto, including Etobicoke, Scarborough, North York, East York and York; Mississauga; Malton) has a $40 minimum, $15 delivery, free from $80. The outer GTA (Brampton, Vaughan, Markham, Richmond Hill, Thornhill, Aurora, Newmarket, King, Caledon, Oakville, Milton, Burlington, Halton Hills, Pickering, Ajax, Whitby, Oshawa) has a $60 minimum, $20 delivery, free from $160. Everywhere else, including Hamilton, Ottawa and all of Quebec, gets mail order: no minimum, $20 shipping, free from $150.
- Ounces: regular ounces start from $50, and $40 ounce specials run now and then on the deals page.
- Payment: local orders by cash on delivery or Interac e-Transfer; mail orders by e-Transfer only, shipped once payment arrives. Each e-Transfer adds $5.
- Age and ID: 19 or older (21 for a Quebec address); ID is verified before a new client's first order is processed and checked at the door on local orders.
